It's a really brilliant scale, Lisa. But here's the deal. Crystal is so good... but ALWAYS the SAME. And Lee is pretty good... but ALWAYS the SAME, and looks scared, bored, or stoned most of the time. Casey is growing on me a little bit, Mike should not have gotten the save, Tim is pretty to look at, Siobhan has crossed over into cartoon character, and Aaron is in over his head. He just looks more lost and miserable every week.

I completely agree -- Crystal, Lee, The Outlaw Casey James and Big Mike have given the same performances over and over. Crystal's default state is just better than everyone else's.
ReplyDeleteIf they cast this badly next year, I'll give up -- any of the top 6 or so finishers from the last several seasons would kick everyone's ass this year. Carly Smithson, Matt Giraud, Michael Johns, even Lakisha or Mandisa would be a standout in this group. And that's before getting to the top tier of "also rans": Elliott, Melinda Doolittle, Daughtry, Blake. Sometimes I get lulled into thinking it's not so bad, they couldn't do much with the songs, but then David Cook comes on and kills with a mediocre Stones song.
Adam was fantastic as a mentor, and of course as a performer.
